Visit AvnerDorman.com and hear a preview of Ellef Symphony. Haydn is the father of the modern symphony and one of the most prolific composers of all time, but it’s a rare treat to hear his music performed by today’s symphony orchestras. Soon after composing Symphony No. 90, Haydn undertook a very successful tour of England, home of the adventuresome namesake child from Berlioz’s Harold in Italy. Based on an idyllic epic by Lord Byron, the work is spirited, passionate, and imaginative, as well as a showcase for ISO Principal Viola Michael Isaac Strauss. The performance of an ISO Principal Chair Musicians is endowed by a gift from the Eugene B. Hibbs Fund.
