Dance Kaleidoscope Presents First-time Summer Performance at IRT with Discounted $10 Tickets Dance Kaleidoscope (DK) presents a first-time summer performance of I Got Gershwin , July 10-13 at Indiana Repertory Theatre (IRT) with all tickets specially priced at just $10 each. (Single tickets for DK shows are normally $21-$37.) ?To celebrate our first summer performance, we wanted to entice our patrons and potential new audience members with a unique and affordable opportunity,? says Executive Director Jan Virgin. ?Sky-rocketing prices of gasoline will continue to make entertainment events almost cost-prohibitive for many people this summer. We hope to help them offset that cost and make Dance Kaleidoscope a viable part of their summer schedule.? I Got Gershwin features David Hochoy's award-winning interpretation of Gershwin's classic ?Rhapsody in Blue? and ?Gershwin in Love,? a collection of standards sung live by tenor (and IRT managng director) Steven Stolen. ?I chose ?Rhapsody in Blue? because it is a fantastic piece of music?one of Gershwin's best,? says Hochoy. ?It combines the jazz feel of American popular music with Gershwin's craft of composition and orchestration and the dynamic tension between the piano soloist and orchestra is vibrant and takes so many unexpected twists and turns.? Steven Stolen's appearance with ?Gershwin in Love? marks his fifth collaboration with Dance Kaleidoscope and has always been a popular addition to previous programs. ?From the first, I?ve always been inspired and deeply moved by the honesty of his renditions,? says Hochoy. ?Steven has the unique capacity of making me cry, gasp in wonder and listen to a song as if for the first time in my life. I think audiences will see Gershwin songs in a whole new light after experiencing ?Gershwin in Love.?? The program also includes the ?Three Preludes? which was created in 2002 for the Green Show at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and ?Fascinatin? Rhythm? accompanied live by pianist Catherine Bringerud. All performances are family-friendly. Show times are: Thursday (Preview Performance) 7:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. All tickets are just $10 and are available at the IRT ticket office at 317.635.5252 or on its web site at www.irtlive.com. A Mini-matinee performance will be presented Thursday, July 10 at 12:00 noon. This one-hour show features selections from the full concert and costs just $6.
