The Forbidden Kingdom

@AnDroo. The sparrow always talked in third person until the last moment when she said, "*I* thank you...". Instead of being moved, I shook my head thinking that it's too subtle (and forced at the same time) for the style of the film.

This was a pretty decent flick. I did have some minor issues with the character developement over all, and the second string costuming was a little distracting... But other than that it's a normal cliché movie about a boy's quest to vaquish evil. There's enough variables to keep it "Different" but not enough. I was amusied by the antics that were very well placed.

The kung-fu was pretty well done, but I really had a hard time figuring out if they were TRYING to be campy or if they were preformign within the limitations of thier budget. That question echoing in my head was extremely distracting.

And above all, one of the character's "Sparrow" talking in third person for seemingly no reason. As stated by my movie going companion, "It really added nothing to the film..."

I want into this movie thinking that it was either going to be really cheesy and like many of the kung fu movie of the 80's and it was! But that is not always a bad thing. Yeah there were some really cheesy parts of this movie (I was waiting for Jackie Chan character to teach the wax on wax off technique to Jason the Danial son of this movie) but they worked with this movie.

Jet Li and Jackie Chan did really well together and had an awesome old school kung fu fight "Praying Mantis is good for catching bugs but Tiger is better" or something like that.

If you were or are still a fan of the kung fu movie of the 80's you will really like this movie.

As a final thought, even though Jet Li and Jackie Chan did really good together I hope Jet Li sticks to serious movies because his laugh is so freakin creepy I don't know if I could handle a "High Noon" kind of movie with him in it.

... but I was wrong. It was pretty exciting and funny. Definitely money well spent.

I went in with pretty low expectations. I saw the previews and didn't think too highly of the movie. But I ended up really liking it because they did a good job on casting and the character dynamics were entertaining.

The movie definitely brings back some old school kung fu movie elements.. Monkey King, different fighting styles, witches and their tricks... some parts reminded me of Karate Kid.

I think Jet Li and Jackie Chan did a great job on this one. I want to watch some old kung fu movies now.
